The Wrapp - Cute and colourful is on the menu this weekend
What are the Pocket Gamer team playing this weekend?

Hey there, welcome to our latest edition of The Wrapp.
This is a chance for you to see what the various members of the Pocket Gamer team are planning to play over this weekend and will, hopefully, give you an idea of some of the weird and wonderful things we get up to when we’re not keeping you up to speed with the latest news and tips. Heck, you might even find a new game to play.

Staff WriterSadly, I have been working on a side project for the past few days, and haven’t gamed much this week. I can feel the withdrawals. Happily, I am done with the admin stuff, which turned out to actually be fun, surprisingly, so this weekend shall be an explosion of games!
I have had two games on my phone that I have been meaning to try for ages: ChronoMon and Duck Detective, so I will be diving into these two. Even more important, however, is that SEED Destiny is coming to SD Gundam G Generation Eternal. I want the inevitable Shinn, so I need to grind out as many Diamonds as I can. So far, I have 24k, which is enough for 80 pulls. I need more!

Staff WriterMy weekend includes a beautiful gaming session at the local pool. It’s nice and warm, and the best games to play and relax is Wittle Defender, which has got me HOOKED! It’s exciting and very similar to some of the other survival games I’ve played before (and enjoyed), so that’s where I stand on my weekend plans. Let’s just hope the weather doesn’t have something else in store.
Oh, and since there is a new event in Cookie Run: Kingdom celebrating GingerBrave’s 16th birthday, I am planning to log in, do my dailies, and claim the exclusive rewards! If you are a CRK player too, don’t forget to do that as well!

Reviews EditorCards are once again in the cards for me this weekend with Defend the Castle, another lovely little hopeful for Ahead of the Game!
This week’s podcast also reminded me of Floop’s Big House Adventure - a colourful shooter that Will reviewed early last year. It’s got Saturday morning cartoon vibes, which is always interesting because of all the nostalgia it brings, so I might just try and fit that into my schedule - if Defend the Castle’s zombie hordes don’t get to me first.

Freelance WriterI’ve been dying to play Hello Kitty Island Adventure since it came out, but I don’t use iOS, so I needed to wait for it to arrive on the Nintendo Switch. I’ve just finally managed to pick up a physical copy of the Deluxe Edition, and I’m so excited to dig into it when it arrives! I’m looking forward to setting up my island, meeting some critters, and hopefully getting to join in with the Under the Sea event while it’s still running (or swimming?).

Freelance WriterWith all the fantasy and cartoon talk, I'm inspired to revisit some of the recent stylised games and see what else is coming up in the future. I'll download Webtoon and take a look at the IP-inspired comics that are up there and see what's up. We're still in the middle of Pride Month, so there are plenty of games to look through and creators to find. Let's see what's going on and what games are popping up the most.
Also, I'm going to look deeper into the genre we discussed, which I guess I'll call "Picky Puzzlers," where all the pieces have to be happy about where they're placed.

Staff WriterFriday the 13th, eh? Unlucky for some. I’ve been playing a lot of Sunless Sea recently, and was disappointed to find that Fallen London had a long-since defunct mobile release. A full soundtrack and everything! Fortunately, there are some great releases this week, but I think for now I’m going to try and get somewhere in Jump King. Either that or shell out for Final Outpost, because that looks right up my alley.

Deputy & Special Projects EditorPotentially unwanted Web3 gubbins aside, I plan to check out Fifa Rivals. I used to play (what I now view as old) Fifa a lot throughout university and a little bit beyond. But, eventually, I fell out of love with it because, in EA's mind, realism means feeling like you were dragging every player through the mud. So, it became unfathomably boring. Since then, I've liked the idea of a more arcade-style football game, so Mythical's approach looks promising. The Fifa licence is a mere bonus.
Outside of mobile, I see plenty of Elden Ring: Nightreign in my future this weekend. Despite not playing it as intended, by which I mean ignoring multiplayer, I'm having a great time. The battle royale-inspired set-up makes it a much more urgent spin on the usual FromSoftware formula, which means I can't be as overly cautious as I like to be, and it's refreshing being forced out of that particular comfort zone.
