The Wrapp - Crystal of Atlan takes over
What are the Pocket Gamer team playing this weekend?

Hey there, welcome to our latest edition of The Wrapp.
This is a chance for you to see what the various members of the Pocket Gamer team are planning to play over this weekend and will, hopefully, give you an idea of some of the weird and wonderful things we get up to when we’re not keeping you up to speed with the latest news and tips. Heck, you might even find a new game to play.

Reviews EditorBetween working on something for Idle RPG Summoners War: Rush and trying to resist Crystal of Atlan (thank you, Shaun, for getting me into this dilemma because of your glowing preview), I’m going to give The King of Fighters AFK a go since it’s in early access in my region.
I need more idle RPGs in my life because of busy schedules, but then again, two idle games in one weekend mean it’s not going to be so idle after all, is it?
What have I done?

Freelance WriterI have loads to do around my real-life house and garden at the moment, so obviously I’m going to spend this weekend making sure my virtual house is perfect in The Sims 4 instead. All of this chat about new DLC is making me really want to jump in and make the most of everything from the last couple of updates before I get into the new stuff.

Staff WriterCristina is super excited about this new game, Crystal of Atlan. It's a cross-platform action RPG with fast-paced combat and really nice visuals powered by the Unreal engine. Currently, there are 5 main classes, and each one has 2 subclasses. I started playing a Puppeteer/Scytheguard, and I'll try to level it up over the weekend.
Another recently released game that I started playing is Magic Chess Go Go. It's an auto-battler based on the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang universe. Since I've been playing Teamfight Tactics for years, this was very easy for me to pick. So far, it's been fun climbing the ranks. I probably'll play some more over the weekend.

Staff WriterThis weekend looks pretty straightforward to me in terms of gaming - it’s all about Crystal of Atlan! It is fantastic, and I didn’t think I’d actually find a game (which is honestly pretty similar to Genshin) that I’d enjoy playing as much as I do.
Given that I am a fan of gachas, but not a fan of those where you need to flaunt your wallet, CoA seems pretty fair. In fact, I enjoy it so much I kinda cut down on my Cookie Run Kingdom time. I can’t believe it! Soooo… that’s all I have planned in terms of games that I’ll play this weekend.

Editor in ChiefI know what you’re all thinking: “Dann’s going to be playing Pokémon TCG Pocket and Pokémon Go”, and, well, you’re right. However, I’ve also redownloaded BeatStar and have been playing the heck out of that. While there’s not actually much to it, it has two major hooks at the moment: 1) The library of songs has grown exponentially since I last played, and, 2) My kids have downloaded it on their phone too, and they’re really good, so we’ve got competitive over the leaderboards… and I won’t back down.
Outside of the wonderful world of mobile, I’m hoping to run through the Dartmoor event in Hitman, and I’m also trying to ‘Perfect’ games on Steam at the moment. What I mean by that is that I had a new writer join one of my other sites two weeks back, and they had their ‘perfect games’ (full achievements) on display on their Steam profile.
I took a look at mine, and it was a disappointing eight. I’m up to twelve now, and I’ve actually been really enjoying doing it. It’s been a great way to get around the choice paralysis of a big library, and has meant I’ve been able to revisit some games (Rusty’s Retirement, Blackwell Deception, Metal Dead, Her Story) that I enjoyed the first time around in order to dust off the last few ‘cheevos’.

Staff WriterI really actually think that Faerie Fragments is a scam. I say that because there are always events happening where you need to play a bunch of levels to get something in Neopets. And that something is often a plushie. That I want. So I am stuck playing more match-3 games. I’ve completed the side levels, which made getting the last plushie easier, but now I am stuck on the main quest.
I will also be playing Pokémon Go, specifically taking on Gigantamax Battles for Rillaboom. I have a really busy weekend, but hopefully it will be an easy battle to defeat.

Staff WriterWith Crystal of Atlan launching, I might get stuck into that, I absolutely adored the PvP gameplay in that. I have also recently downloaded two puzzle games that I have been enjoying: Clue Master and Cross Math. My main vice at the minute, though, is Skyrim. Oblivion stoked the flames, and I dove straight in.
I am doing a vanilla runthrough to complete all the achievements before I go ahead and mod everything possible. Skyrim is a fun game, but mods definitely elevate it. Unfortunately, they disable achievements, and the Xbox version doesn’t seem to have a mod that turns them back on. Microsoft and their crafty, fair play ways!

Staff WriterI curse Will for influencing me to try out Jump King. More than 30 minutes, and I barely even made it past the second screen. That being said there is something compelling about this platformer, so I reckon I’ll take another go at it over the weekend. And then there’s Limbo, which I remember hearing about growing up and seeing it touted as a game-changing release. Suffice it to say, then, that my weekend is packed with stuff to do.

Deputy & Special Projects EditorA whole new expansion arriving in Pokémon TCG Pocket means another ranked season. I managed to get my way up to Ultra Ball last time out using the Giratina and Darkrai combo. Yes, the same deck as most people, alright? I'm not creative in that way. Anyway, whether or not the ghostly duo remains top of the pile with the Ultra Beasts now in town remains to be seen, but that's what I'll stick with until the meta reshapes.
