Mini Airways lets you establish and maintain your own ATC network, out now on iOS
  • Mini Airways lets you take on the role of an air traffic controller
  • Manage flight lanes, ensure smooth running of real-world airports
  • Take on historical cases to see how you'd do under pressure

With the news being what it is, more than ever, people have become aware of just how fragile the communications network that manages aeroplane travel is. And I'm sure that, like anything, some of you find that sort of pressure exciting, in which case you'll be glad to find that Mini Airways is now available on iOS and is coming soon to Android.

You'd probably guess, but Mini Airways is exactly as it says on the tin and puts you in the shoes of an ATC (Air Traffic Control) official. Your job is simply to ensure that planes are able to take off, land and travel safely through the air. Of course, while it sounds simple in theory, it's anything but in reality.

To do so, you'll have to perform a delicate balancing act while managing busy international airports across real-world locations such as Shanghai, Tokyo and Washington, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and avoiding potential disasters.

Mini Airways may focus on the puzzle aspects, but you'll also be able to manage real-world historic events to see how well you could handle the strain. The premium version is also not necessary to enjoy much of the experience, but an additional 15 classic airports to manage and 10 new upgrades and historical events are a good reason to grab it if you enjoy Mini Airways.

Certainly, if nothing else, the kind of pressure and brain-busting management aspects will give you a new appreciation for the work of air traffic controllers the world over.
