The Wrapp - Peeved poultry, cosmic card battlers, and political plans
What are the Pocket Gamer team playing this weekend?

Hey there, welcome to our latest edition of The Wrapp.
This is a chance for you to see what the various members of the Pocket Gamer team are planning to play over this weekend and will, hopefully, give you an idea of some of the weird and wonderful things we get up to when we’re not keeping you up to speed with the latest news and tips. Heck, you might even find a new game to play.

Editor in ChiefI was in Paris for Pokémon Go Fest last week, so I didn’t report on what I’d be playing over the weekend for the last Wrapp - although I’m sure that, with that context, it’s easy to guess. It was a really great event, and I got loads of fun shinies, although I did lapse in my Pokémon TCG Pocket promo work and now have two cards missing from my Promo Deck… which is a terrible frustration.
Outside of that, I did what I’ll also be doing this week, which was continually throwing myself at Suzerain and its Rizia DLC until I’ve learned enough about it that I can create the ‘perfect run’. The perfect run, in my case, is a strong Sordland that sees off its rivals and remains unified, and a restored Rizia, with both easing their political systems and improving welfare.

Reviews EditorI had such a blast with Defend the Castle last week that I'm actually itching for even more tower defence this weekend - thankfully, What Duck has launched because we need more peeved poultry causing chaotic clucking on our phones.
But then Meteorfall: Rustbowl Rumble is out now too, and given how I absolutely devoured Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale, it'll be extremely difficult to pry myself away from this one. Am I normally strong enough to resist the last slice of pizza, even if it's my favourite food in the whole wide world? Heck yes. Does that same willpower extend to shiny new games that call to me from the beyond? Absolutely not.

Staff WriterThis weekend is looking quite busy! We’ve got some wedding preparations to tend to, so no gaming other than the daily Cookie Run Kingdom quests, and passing a couple of stages in Wittle Defender!

Staff WriterIt has been one hell of a work week, so I haven’t had much time to dive into the new Map Event on SD Gundam G Generation Eternal. This weekend I shall rectify, it looks pretty interesting. Although I am annoyed they released a UR that is tangentially linked to SEED, so I have to pull on the banner. I was saving for the Destiny release. Also, a side note, SEED has way too many Support units. I want Attack!

Freelance WriterIt's going to be so warm this weekend that I'm not sure how much gaming I'll get done. But, I want to keep settling into my island paradise over in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, so I imagine I'll be spending a lot of time trying to find more friendly faces from the Sanrio cast! Plus, I might be able to take my Switch to find some shade somewhere.

Staff WriterSomebody please turn the heat down. Jokes about the heatwave and our low tolerance as Brits for anything about 30 degrees Celsius (about 86 Fahrenheit) aside, I’ll be back in on my usual rotation of Balatro, Vampire Survivors and now Jump King. Still got one eye fixed squarely on Castle V Castle, mind, and after winning a convert to Stardew Valley on mobile I might just step into that world too.

Deputy & Special Projects EditorGods vs Horrors is in my plans this weekend after picking it up a few days ago. But a few other bits and pieces might pull my attention away from it for a while. Much like Catherine, I'm intrigued by what Meteorfall: Rustbowl Rumble has to offer, while Bart Bonte's latest puzzler, Leaving Home, also seems worth checking out. So, it might end up being a bit of a mobile smorgasbord for me.
Beyond that, my endeavours in Elden Ring: Nightreign continue. I recently found myself oddly delighted to run into a particular boss from Dark Souls II during my adventures. Not only is it the weakest FromSoftware offering, but arachnids with two heads are not my jam. If evidence for the strength of nostalgia was ever needed, I think I found it.
