What are the Pocket Gamer team playing this weekend?

The Wrapp - Vocaloid Gundam mayhem

Hey there, welcome to our latest edition of The Wrapp.

This is a chance for you to see what the various members of the Pocket Gamer team are planning to play over this weekend and will, hopefully, give you an idea of some of the weird and wonderful things we get up to when we’re not keeping you up to speed with the latest news and tips. Heck, you might even find a new game to play.

This weekend I’m travelling with my friend, so I’m not going to be around for much gaming!

I’m sorely tempted to take a look at Kemco’s latest release, Metro Quester, as I’ve been on quite a Metro 2033 kick and want to have that same experience on mobile. At the same time, it’s business as usual for me with a bit of Vampire Survivors-slash-Balatro here and there.

Hey, when was Castle V Castle releasing?! Because I’ve got my eye fixed on that almost exclusively, too. It’s one of those rare releases I can tell I’ll adore from the trailer alone, but the dev seems a bit cagey about release dates at the moment.

Will be packing, moving, and has already slipped a step down the stairs earlier this week. No weekend gaming, unfortunately!

I’m finally going to try Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage this weekend. I’m genuinely looking forward to the film coming out and would love to have a fighting chance of understanding what’s going on, so I figure now’s the time. Despite loving Project Diva and rhythm games more generally, I’ve somehow never tried its mobile counterpart. I’m excited to give it a go!

With the weekend comes Pokemon Go events: Dynamax Entei and Vanillite Community Day; so I’ll no doubt be out wandering the streets whole catching Pokemon. Aside from that, hmm. I’m still trying to finish my TCG Pocket decks, especially as the new ones are coming. I’m only missing three cards, but I genuinely think I’m going to have to get 1500 pack points so that I can simply point buy them… and that’s a bit frustrating.

That said, I am excited about the next pack. I think that it puts us at that sweet spot where the meta gets incredibly stupid and so it won’t just be the same decks that you come up against in PvP. We’re close already, as the top ‘2-3’ decks all have counters (and counter counters), but it just needs one big push. Hopefully, the next pack will be that.

It’s been a great week for new releases: Delta Force, Once Human and SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL (TWELVE SYLABLES!) all released this week. Pandoland looks like the one for me, though, I’ve been craving the open seas and bright, vibrant colours.

This weekend is another local holiday full of merriment and people's birthdays. I'm not sure how much time I'll have to myself, but I will be investigating the season of crossovers that we seem to have stumbled upon. It'll be fun to determine what the most random and illogical crossovers are currently happening and how they're being received. Though none will ever top the Cookie Run: Kingdom X BTS. That crossover was dynamite… eh?

I will but diving even more into SD Gundam G Generation. I have been playing it a fair bit this week, and I absolutely love it. It is the perfect Gundam game to put on mobile, and there is so much to do. Of course, I charged through to the SEED stages as it is the best series, and I will be trying to 100% the development of all their units, those that are available right now anyway.

Aside from that, I am still gallivanting around Mira in Xenoblade Chronicles X. After some soul searching and a conversation with Stephen, I decided to abandon the meta build, because I want to use the laserswords!!! So, I am creating my own Jedi build, and all is good in the world.

It’s community day over the weekend, so I will be playing Pokemon Go, catching some shiny ice cream cones. I hope the weather is as sweet as the Pokemon! Faerie Fragraments has me on hold again. I am looking to hatch eggs in the mobile game to unlock a plushie for the browser-based game, and it’s been a tough one!

I'm back into playing Marvel Snap these days. It's just the type of game that I enjoy, and I can always go back to. It's strategic, it's fast, and you don't really have to grind to be competitive every new season. Also, even though the meta always changes, many different decks remain viable. That's something that I can appreciate, especially as a veteran (since beta) returning to the game.

Another game that I started playing recently is Ludus. Cristina got me into it while she was writing a piece about it, actually. Similar to Marvel Snap, this is also a turn-based card strategy. I almost made it to arena 7 playing maybe 20 minutes per day. I have to admit that having to watch ads is annoying, but the gameplay is fun.

It's a slightly predictable and definitely not surprising update from me this week. The first ranked season in Pokemon TCG Pocket draws to a close on April 27th, so I'll try to climb as high as I can before then. I can't imagine I'll get much further since I lack many of the cards needed for the meta decks, but I'll do my best. There's a new expansion around the corner, and I need as many Pack Hourglasses as possible to get off to a good start.
