Pokémon Go brings back Machop for the May 2025 Community Day Classic event
Perfect end to this season

- Machop returns on May 24th between 2:00 and 5:00 pm
- Exclusive Community Day Special Research story will be available
- Event coincides with the Go Battle Week
As Pokémon Go prepares for an epic conclusion to the Might and Mastery season, the Community Day Classic returns to spotlight a familiar powerhouse, Machop. On May 24th, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm local time, the Superpower Pokémon will be front and centre in the wild, giving you another chance to bulk up your Fighting roster with a classic favourite.
If you’ve missed out on a solid Machamp or just want to chase that green Shiny glow, this event’s a prime opportunity. Machop will be appearing more frequently, and if luck’s on your side, you could snag a Shiny one in Pokémon Go as well.
Evolve a Machoke anytime during the event or up until May 31st at 10:00 pm local time and you’ll get a Machamp that knows the Charged Attack Payback, a Dark-type move that hits for 110 power in Trainer Battles and 95 power in raids and Gyms.
For those looking to go deeper, the Community Day exclusive Special Research story will be available for $1.99, offering a Premium Battle Pass, Rare Candy XL, bonus Machop encounters, and three Machop with a Seasonal Special Background.

Furthermore, the Timed Research adds extra incentive to log in. Complete tasks after the event to earn a Machop encounter with a Might and Mastery–themed Special Background, along with boosted Shiny odds. Just don’t forget - those tasks expire on May 31st. Redeem these Pokémon Go codes to get yourself a bunch of freebies!
Event bonuses also include 3x Catch Stardust, three-hour Lure Modules and Incense, and surprise photo encounters. Meanwhile, Field Research and PokéStop Showcases give you more chances to earn Stardust, Great Balls, and Machop encounters with special backgrounds.
To top it off, the Pokémon Go Web Store will offer an Ultra Community Day Box for $1.99 starting May 14th, which includes two Rare Candies and a Special Research ticket.
