The Pocket Gamer Podcast Episode 16 - Retro Revival, Carmen Santiago, and Podcast+
|

In this, the sixteenth episode of our podcast, Cat, Will and Iwan get together to discuss a selection of news stories as well as their thoughts on the forming retro-revival.

Recent observed resurgence of interest in popular PS1 genres (survival horror, jRPG, etc) brings the team to speculate on the generational nature of gaming and also heavily discuss the absence of the 'polygonal'-retro style we're starting to see punch through on more traditional platforms. That as well as discussing game structures, from the open-endedness of mobile through to classic new game+ and more.

All that after a quick run-through of some recent news stories, including plenty of tangents on anime, Assassin's Creed and everything in between.

You can listen to the podcast below, through the Spotify embed, or head over to our Spotify Page - while there you can follow us, which'll actually get the new podcasts pushed to you as they're uploaded (which means you can give it a listen before we've even got the story live on the website). We're also going to be looking at more ways of getting it to you over the coming months, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
