TOEM: A Photo Adventure is a perspective puzzler in early access on Android and coming soon to iOS
  • Toem: A Photo Adventure is now available in early access on Android
  • It's slated to arrive later on iOS and is focused on perspective-shifting puzzles
  • Journey as a novice photographer trying to get to a mountain and witness the mysterious Toem

Perspective is everything, and that's never been truer than with the award-winning puzzler Toem: A Photo Adventure. Available now in early access on Android and soon to come to iOS, Toem is a surprisingly heartwarming adventure for something with such a monochromatic appearance.

As a young photographer, your goal is to ascend a mountain and witness an unusual phenomenon called, you guessed it, Toem. But along the way, you'll find yourself travelling through Scandinavian-inspired landscapes and locations, with plenty of NPCs to meet and befriend along the way.

Your job is to help these NPCs out and open the way to the next location. For example, using your camera to scare away birds harassing a ferryman so he can take you on his boat. Even if you're not solving puzzles, however, the monochromatic style disguises some truly stunning and feature-packed environments.

Toem is an easy example of relaxed Scandinavian design and was produced by Swedish studio Something We Made. Having already grabbed plenty of accolades, awards and critical praise on other platforms, it seems only natural that bringing it to mobile was the next step.

Naturally, the try-before-you-buy model that's become prevalent once more is also present here, and you'll be able to explore a small section of Toem to find out if it's for you. But with a legion of quirky characters, relaxed environments and soundtrack, plus plenty of hidden nooks and details to find that make it perhaps second only to Labyrinth city, and I can't see why you wouldn't want to give it a go.

Meanwhile, if you're looking for other oddities and unusual releases such as Toem, there's no better place to find the latest and greatest releases than in our regular feature covering the top five new mobile games to try this week!
