Shapez and an exclusive DC Heroes United bundle are Epic Games' freebies of the week

• It's an enthralling, production line-building, and very minimalist puzzler
• There's also an exclusive new free bundle of in-game goodies for DC Heroes Unite

As we head into the weekend, many of you will have begun singling out today for the Epic Games Store's freebie of the week. Last time out, we had Ogu and the Secret Forest, and this week we've got a bundle for DC Heroes United as well as the excellent factory puzzler Shapez now free to claim and keep. 

Of course, we already knew that DC Heroes United would be getting a free bundle when it came to mobile. And it seems this is the one which was promised, as it features a host of in-game currency and items as well as an exclusive Batman Troika skin for use in DC Heroes United's roguelite mode.

Shapez, meanwhile, should need little introduction to devoted puzzle fans. This simple conveyor belt-building, colour-changing, shape-altering experience is all about logistics and efficiency as you strive to create the best way of altering each shape by flipping it, reducing it, adding colour and eventually meeting the demands of unseen consumers.

Shapez is probably one of the best examples so far of why the Epic Games Store's free release programme may end up doing real numbers (as the kids say) on mobile. Whereas many PC players never entirely warmed to it, on mobile, people are always looking for a deal and something fun and new to play.

DC Heroes United is, of course, less enthralling, but even then, a free bundle of in-game goodies is always welcome for many of you, I'm sure. So keep your eye out, because it's only another week to go until we find out what's coming next!
