Leap, lunge and launch through a fantastical Arabian world

Prince of Persia: Lost Crown is coming to iOS and Android next month
  • Prince of Persia: Lost Crown, the 2.5D platformer, is coming soon to mobile
  • It arrives at a chaotic time for Ubisoft, but stands out with its Metroidvania-style action
  • Try before you buy on both iOS and Android

In recent years, it seems as if we're getting a bit more of a taste of what the so-called bigger platforms are enjoying. But still, I've often seen new releases you'd feel would perfectly fit on the ubiquitous palm-sized smartphone, like the upcoming Prince of Persia: Lost Crown, which is finally releasing for iOS and Android on April 14th!

Set in a mythological Persian-inspired world, Prince of Persia: Lost Crown is, of course, the latest reboot of the classic platformer series. You play as fearless hero Sargon in his quest to rescue Prince Ghassan as he traverses the mythical Mount Qaf.

Like many of the attempts to revive this classic series, Prince of Persia: Lost Crown accentuates the parkour-style platforming with the addition of plentiful hack 'n slash action. Aside from that, you'll string together combos and use your time-altering powers to take on deadly enemies.

Prince of Persia: Lost Crown will also debut with a try-before-you-buy model to boot. That means if you're sceptical about whether you'll enjoy Prince of Persia, you can leap in and give it a go before paying to unlock the full game if it takes your fancy.

One of the more common sentiments I saw levied about Prince of Persia: Lost Crown when it was originally released was that the 2.5D platforming was outdated. For audiences used to the biggest, flashiest and most cutting-edge releases it almost seemed quaint, but I think on mobile this fully fleshed-out experience will find a very eager audience.

But, if you're either not fussed or simply need something to tide you over ahead of release, why not go ahead and dig into our latest list of the top five new mobile games to try this week and see what else has hit storefronts these last seven days?
