In space, no-one can hear you, erm, make a purchase?

- Alien: Isolation's new try-before-you-buy update is out now on Android
- It lets you get a taster of the hit horror game and how it performs on mobile
- The game follows Amanda Ripley, trying to find out what happened to her mother in the original film
Alien: Isolation, Creative Assembly's hit horror game based on the famous movie franchise, is now 'try before you buy' on Android. The update was previously exclusive to iOS, but now Android players can get a taste of the (very well-executed) optimised port of the game to see if it's for them.
And if you want our judgement? Buy it, buy it, buy it. Alright, but seriously, Alien: Isolation is pretty much indisputably one of the best single-player horror games of maybe the last decade if not further. It rightfully receives praise for its portrayal of the perhaps over-exposed movie monster, with many treating it as a worthy sequel to the original 1979 classic.
It follows Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen, as she travels to the isolated deep space Sevastopol Station to find out what happened to her mother (in the first Alien film) from her ship's flight recorder. Unfortunately, when she gets there all hell has metaphorically broken loose, with a certain gruesome Xenomorph now on the prowl.

I'm not sure exactly how long the 'try before you buy' period on Alien: Isolation is, and given that it has quite a slow-burn intro I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't give enough of a glimpse of the titular Xenomorph to really hook players. But for those worried about whether their phone can handle it, it does offer an opportunity to stress-test your mobile beforehand.
