Crystal of Atlan guide - 7 tips for new players

If your goal is to advance quickly and make all the right decisions from the start, our Crystal of Atlan guide will help you do just that and a little bit more. We like to go above and beyond here at Pocket Gamer.
Regardless of how you want to approach it, whether that's as a F2P player or as someone who would rather swipe their card and make their worries go away, these tips are meant for everybody. They will not only teach you what to use your Energy on every single day (since Energy is a rather scarce resource), but also what you should do with your items, allowing you to prepare for level 60 gear ahead of time.
Of course, if you're just thinking about getting started, we've prepared a Crystal of Atlan tier list where we ranked all the classes, so go and check that out before you create your first character.
Crystal of Atlan tips for beginners
The tips in this Crystal of Atlan guide revolve around what you should be doing when you start playing, what you should spend your Prismadiums on, and also, how you can make your character stronger to clear the content more easily.Oh, and something else that might come in handy is where you can farm (and how to do it) to get some items that can make you a lot of money. Yup, all that information and a little more can be found on the following pages of this guide.
Don't forget to claim the latest Crystal of Atlan codes too - there are plenty of them, and you don't want to miss out on a single reward!
So, if you're ready to start your adventure, then let's dive right in!
1
Tip #1 - Focus on the main story and side quests

The first, and most important thing, when you start playing is focusing on the main story and side quests the game recommends. Those will walk you through the tutorial and pretty much everything else you need to unlock.
Even though some of the quests are a little bit more difficult, if you constantly upgrade your gear, you'll have no problem defeating any enemy.
Make sure you do all your dailies
The daily quests are incredibly easy, and you can complete them all in a maximum of 30 minutes. You should do all of them daily, because the rewards are super good and you need to complete plenty of missions anyway if you want the rewards from the Adventurer's Manual (battlepass). The dailies are key to doing that.

Tip #2 - Upgrade your gear

The beginner gear is great, since you get a purple piece from the tutorial. As you keep fighting enemies, you will get better and better gear. I recommend you upgrade everything up to +5 (or +6 if you're able), but don't bother making it +10 because the amount of Spare Parts you need is just too much. It's not worth it.
Especially at the start, it will be a waste of time and resources, so that's why it's better to stick to +5 or +6.
Avoid using your Catalysts and Vouchers
The Catalysts are items you can use at the blacksmith to increase the odds of success when upgrading a piece of gear. DO NOT waste them on low-level gear. Instead, keep them for level 60 gear, because they are incredibly valuable. The same goes for the Vouchers. You will collect quite a few Vouchers from the login rewards, beginner rewards and whatnot, and you shouldn't use them on your low-level gear either. They guarantee the success of a gear refinement, so keep them for your final gear. Oh, and buy them every chance you get.

Tip #3 - Master your class

When you pick your class, as I mentioned at the beginning of this article, you should pick one with a playstyle you enjoy. I suggest you take your time and really read through every skill your preferred class has, and learn how to best rotate them.
You should also try to understand the role your class has. Is it close-range combat? Is it burst damage? Do you need to go in and out of battle? All of these play an important role, so if you truly understand your class, battling through multiplayer dungeons in Crystal of Atlan will be a breeze.
Avoid taking damage
While we're at it, it's a good time to make a quick note about the red carpets. Like in most other RPGs, enemies will mark the ground with red carpets when they're about to land a hit. You should try to avoid all of these because your health potions have a cooldown, and unless you're using the "premium" potions, they won't do much in terms of restoration after hitting level 35.

Tip #4 - Learn Life Skills and unlock Achievements

Life skills are as follows:
- Cooking
- Gathering
- Crafting
Each one will come in handy, and I recommend you go ahead and gather items whenever you can, because you can use them for crafting or cooking. These Life Skills are fun to play around with, especially when out of Energy.
Complete areas!
By completing an area, I mean finding all the spots to take pictures in, completing the story, and discovering all the chests hidden in that area. It will take time, but if you have nothing better to do (if you get stuck at one specific stage), this is a good way to continue playing and get some progress under your belt.

Tip #5 - How to farm and make money in Crystal of Atlan?

Farming is something I thoroughly enjoy, and if you are someone who loves making money on the side too, you can try farming the end-stage bosses that can grant Insignias. However, remember this costs Energy, so make sure you have some to spare before getting carried away.
I suggest you open the Adventure tab and hover over every stage to see what rewards are available. Then, all you have to do is head over to that stage and kill the same boss over and over. That way, you can sell or even use the Insignia that might drop.
Just keep in mind farming this way is time-consuming and Energy-reliant, and the chances of getting one Insignia are quite low. That's why they sell for so much in the auction house.

Tip #6 - Don't sleep on the Fleet system

The Fleet system is the equivalent of a Guild system. You should join one as soon as you can, because you not only need the daily check-in for your daily quests, but you'll also get additional rewards by helping your guildmates.
If you plan to play for a long time, I recommend you join any Fleet you can at the start, even if it's not that powerful and high-ranking. Then, when you are stronger, try finding a more appropriate Fleet.

Tip #7 - More Crystal of Atlan tips and tricks

Here are a few more tips and tricks for CoA to help you keep track of everything:
- Pay close attention to the ongoing events. There are some web events too, which will be featured in the Announcements/Events tab (Menu> Announcements icon, on top of the Mail).
- Complete the in-game Surveys! They are time-limited, and they will give you A LOT of Bound Gold.
- Equip Potions and the most common Food items onto the quick skill bar, next to the inventory.
- Use Food buffs (ideal for your class) before you go into PvP or dungeons. They will grant you a decent boost, and that'll help you deal more damage.
- Prioritise unlocking Expansion Pockets and Expansion Boxes. Your inventory will get filled a lot quicker than you think.
- Access your storage from the bag, and place there the items you want to keep for the end-game (such as Vouchers and other good quality Foods).
- Always pay attention to the gear set bonus you get. Try to activate it whenever possible.
- Make sure to socket Insignias into your equipment, but I recommend keeping the good Insignias for your end-game gear.
