All of Supercell's cancelled games

Have you ever wondered why there are so many similar icons to Clash Royale, Clash of Clans, or Hay Day in the app stores? That's because Supercell is behind those names, and they tend to create new viral ones that don't often stick around for too long. If you want to know which of those didn't stand the test of time, let's take a look at a list of all the Supercell cancelled games we've had the pleasure of enjoying so far!
Why do some Supercell games get cancelled?
Supercell is well-known for having lots of successful games, most following a specific visual theme. It's usually easy to spot something they've made exactly because of that. The downside is that with so many franchises, there are also costs. To have something running, you need to have a multitude of features, from servers to employees, and so much more. All of these imply costs, and sometimes it's just simply not enough to have a good idea. You also need to have a lot of players investing time and money (supposedly) to keep it running.
There was a Reddit post I read not long ago about this, where you can learn more about it.
Supercell themselves have mentioned in a video some time ago that in order to keep up four titles, they had to scrap several others.
I can't imagine that being easy, given how many of their projects are actually really good!
Will these cancelled games come back?
While we can't say for certain that some of these will return (R.I.P. Boom Beach: Frontlines, you shall be missed), that can't be ruled out. Many developers re-release games that have seen success in the past, so we can only hope. But on to the topic of today's article - let's take a look at all the Supercell cancelled games we know of so far!
- Clash Mini
- Clash Heroes
- Boom Beach: Frontlines
- Gunshine.net
- Pets vs. Orcs
- Project “Magic” - never saw the light of day
- Battle Buddies
- Smash Land
- Spooky Pop

Rush Wars

Rush Wars didn't make it out the gate either. - This was supposed to be a fun RTS, but as it goes with Supercell, if something isn't perfect from the get-go, it's scrapped.
It seemed fun while it lasted, but since it was a little bit grindy, Supercell responded, as usual, with "We heard your feedback with the game feeling repetitive, and we made some changes with a few updates. However, the changes we made didn’t help the game long term nor change up the gameplay style enough to make it as fun as we would like.".

Hay Day Pop

We had a news piece announcing the release of Hay Day Pop, but it also didn't last long. This was supposed to be a casual match-three puzzler, set in the Hay Day universe.
All good so far, but the developers decided it wasn't good enough to stand next to the other massive titles they boast, so this one ended up being cancelled too.

Floodrush

Floodrush was announced in 2023. It soon opened its Beta stage, but player feedback sent it straight back to the drawing board. Being a MOBA (which lots of players are extremely familiar with - take Wild Rift for instance) with battle royale elements, it was difficult to uphold the high stakes.
The developers have said: “Throughout the beta testing stage, we carefully analyzed every feedback message sent to us and identified several issues, either with gameplay mechanics, controls, character dynamics or artistic aspects, among others. We concluded that, to uphold Supercell’s standards of excellence, we needed to make extensive changes to the point that they would transform Floodrush into something too distant from our initial vision.”
