  • Honkai: Star Rail is set to cross over with top anime franchise Fate/Stay Night
  • The tease was made in MiHoYo's Gamescom appearance with a special trailer
  • It hints that fan-favourite character Archer may be joining the game

Honkai: Star Rail was also featured at Gamescom Opening Night Live, which you might have noticed is something we're rounding up a lot of today. That's because there was a glut of major mobile news to cover. Case in point, Honkai: Star Rail's upcoming collaboration with Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works.

Now, for those of you of a certain, shall we say, vintage this will probably not need any introduction. But for you newer fans out there, Fate/Stay Night is a major anime franchise. How major? Well, Fate/Grand Order has reportedly raked in more than $5 billion and is one of the top ten highest-grossing mobile games worldwide.

Of course, for fans, it's not the franchise's fame that's most exciting. Instead, it's the tease that fan-favourite character Archer may be making the jump to Honkai: Star Rail in a pretty major crossover for one of MiHoYo's mainstay titles. At the moment it's just a tease, but check out the trailer below to find out more!

Something, something unlimited blade works

As I said, Fate/Stay Night is definitely going to be familiar to older readers. It's a little bit before my time, but back in the days of yore when anime was just becoming popular with the rise of the internet, Fate/Stay Night was a big deal.

You might be surprised to know it never really left the public consciousness in Japan, and has remained one of the top-grossing franchises over there. Little surprise then that it was ripe for a crossover with MiHoYo.

In any case, need something to do while you wait for the arrival of this collab? Check out our list of the best mobile games of 2024 (so far) for some of our top picks!
