9th Dawn and all its various sequels are what you get when you grind an action RPG down to its basest elements. You hack 'n slash your way through dungeons, upgrade your skills and sell off your loot, no fuss. And in 9th Dawn Remake, you can experience it all over again, with a fresh coat of paint.
9th Dawn has been minimalist from the get-go, lacking even animations for individual characters. However, don't make the mistake of thinking that makes it slow, as 9th Dawn Remake revamps the combat of the original and streamlines quests for a smoother, faster experience.
Graphics-wise, while 9th Dawn has had a bit of a visual overhaul with some Octopath Traveller-esque 2D-HD effects, it remains starkly retro in appearance. But for the first time ever, you can get a closer look at those visuals by jumping into first-person mode!
9th Dawn Remake isn't just a visual overhaul either, as you'll also get to jump into some new minigames. Fishing Survivors sees you taking on a bullet heaven-style challenge of blasting fish and trying to survive as long as possible. Meanwhile, Deck Rock adds a bona fide, full-fledged deck-building card battler to the proceedings.
Aside from that, however, you can expect many of the same features that defined the original 9th Dawn, including plenty of side-quests to complete, a vast open world to explore and, of course, absolutely bucketloads of loot to carry back to your local trader.
