Squad Busters' major new Hero update is now live
Fundamental changes, emphasis on fun

- Squad Busters new Hero update is out now!
- Heroes are the new focus of the release, with squaddies supporting them
- Use your power moves, upgrade your squaddies and enjoy faster, furious gameplay
Squad Busters has been up and down in terms of popularity. While at its core it's still a fun and accessible MOBA-like, it hasn't quite lived up to the success Supercell seemed to envision. Sceptical players, however, may be pulled back in to give Squad Busters another shot with their latest update.
Billed as the most ambitious update to any of Supercell's catalogue for over 15 years, Squad Busters' new update switches up the fundamentals of its gameplay. No longer is your squad solely comprised of units, as now they're split between the much more powerful Heroes and Squaddies.
Heroes, as you might expect, serve as your lynchpin and now boast their own abilities and passives. Squaddies, meanwhile, function much as units once did, and can be upgraded during matches. You'll also no longer need to halt your squad to attack, although doing so will make your squaddies attack faster.

Obviously, this pretty much changes the entire crux of Squad Busters, making your squad more durable and changing the focus from being a pseudo-RTS MOBA to more like a classic MOBA. Now, it's all about using your Heroes and their 'power moves' alongside your squaddies to support them.
While I'm sure some of you will lament these changes being at odds with the original crux of Squad Busters' design, it's hard to argue with the changes. As much as Squad Busters resonated with me initially, I couldn't see myself picking it up frequently, and the decision to switch the focus to heroes helps make player actions more consequential.
