Epic Games Store launches free game programme and third-party titles
  • THe Epic Games Storefront for mobile is getting a major overhaul
  • Nearly 20 new third-party releases are being added, alongside the well-loved free games programme
  • Nab Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee, absolutely free until February 20th!

The Epic Games Store for mobile has just gotten a bit more epic, or so they say. But it's hard to disagree as not only is the first wave of third-party titles landing on the storefront but also the introduction of their much-beloved free games programme for Android worldwide and iOS in the European Union! What's in store for this? Let's find out!

First off, there's the aforementioned addition of nearly 20 third-party releases to the store. And even more crucially the integration of Epic's highly-touted free games programme. This month's free release is Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee which you can claim until February 20th, with it set to be succeeded by Bloons TD6.

Not only that but Epic are looking to make sure that cross-platform integration is a key feature. You can log into your Epic account with persistent status across both Android and iOS, while a new auto-update feature is set to keep your catalogue all up to scratch.

I suppose if there's one thing you can say about Sweeney Industries it's that they very much put their money where their mouth is. While the Epic Games Store has lagged on PC, overshadowed by the dominant storefront of Steam, on mobile I've no doubt that free games are going to be a much more enticing proposition.

I've also got to give at least some props to Sweeney for sticking with the idea that the Epic Games storefront is at least partially meant to be pro-developer. With their highly-touted revenue-sharing model being a major selling point in their ongoing war against Apple.

If you're looking for other great releases to play, but don't have your mitts on the Epic Games Mobile storefront, why not take a look at our own list of the top five new mobile games to try this week?
