Off the AppStore: Face the lunch rush with Karinderya
|
  • A fully-packed food stall business
  • Learn about Filipino food while serving it
  • Be fast and accurate to net that profit

Welcome to Off The AppStore, a weekly feature with a twist. Namely, that while these - as with all the games we cover here - are games that you can play on your phone, they're ones that operate outside of the realms of the big two ways to play: The Google Play Store and the Apple AppStore.

That means that there might be a bit of work required in downloading alternative AppStores or APKs, or that the games can simply be played in your phone browser. We'll make sure to detail that for each game though. Anyway, read on to find a new game or experience to play Off The AppStore.

The problem with food games is that the more you play them, the hungrier you'll get. The other problem is not knowing whether said food is in your area or even real at all. Thankfully, there are game designers who take pity on those with easily swayed stomachs and make sure that everything they include exists somewhere in the world. One such person is Mark the Panda, who wants to pique your peckish taste buds with Karinderya. However, be warned that you won't cook or eat any food. That part isn't real.

Customers with their orders in front of the food.

You never know when the hunger will strike you, and there won't always be time to, like, SIT and WAIT to be served. So you turn to the alternative that gives fast food a run for its money: The humble food stall. In Karinderya, you're a server working at a popular Filipino stall and must be on point to keep the restaurant's reputation intact. You'll have access to a wide range of drinks, dishes, and sides that can all go together in one way or another. After all, if the customer wants to mix their Plain Rice with Palabok and garnish it with Coffee Jelly, who are you to tell them that they can't?

As the server, you need to be sharp and responsive. This is a food stall, and people must be fed when they arrive. They'll clearly state their order, and you'll have to put everything they want onto the same plate. The more items you get right, the better your score, your reputation increases, and you get more bang for your buck. If you only partially fulfil an order, you'll still earn points, but if you completely mess it up or take it too long, customers will leave with nothing but a bad taste in their mouths. Whether you go for the Classic or Chill mode, the cash you earn from playthroughs can be put towards unlocking new areas and new customers for extra flair. Karinderya awaits your hungry hands!

You can download Karinderya from its itch.io page.
