- Smooth and quick solo and multiplayer brawling
Welcome to Off The AppStore, a weekly feature with a twist. Namely, that while these - as with all the games we cover here - are games that you can play on your phone, they're ones that operate outside of the realms of the big two ways to play: The Google Play Store and the Apple AppStore.
That means that there might be a bit of work required in downloading alternative AppStores or APKs, or that the games can simply be played in your phone browser. We'll make sure to detail that for each game though. Anyway, read on to find a new game or experience to play Off The AppStore.
It's well-known that whenever your game has done everything it can on Earth, the only option is to go to space. It's the final frontier for a reason and absolutely anything can be out there… which is probably why so many game designers put their assets out into the cosmos because we can't say for sure that they're NOT out there. Of course, it's a different story if you decide to start your game in space because that is the foundation for everything. This is what Papa Corps committed to when they made Astro Brawl. You can probably put the pieces together, but can you see the big picture?
Astro Brawl is about a brawl in the astro-sense of the word. There are creatures of various backgrounds and species that could be considered astronauts for all intents and purposes. They travelled the stars and found themselves among a mix of minor planets or perfectly spherical asteroids. Seeing how easy and fun it was to move between these celestial bodies, they decided to make a physical competition. They'd use their ranged weapons to fight across the space balls and try to hit each other using accuracy and gravity. Only true masters of gravitational physics and geometry can hope to win… but projectile spammers have a fair shot too.

The game is still in its early stages but already includes several single-player modes on top of the online multiplayer chaos. You can take on the waves of increasing enemy teams and different astro-arrangements or go round after round against the same team to see who gets the most wins first. You'll have your trusty bow and arrow (or gun) which can fire far and be sucked into a planet's orbit as it gets close. Of course, it's not fun sitting still, so take action and jump between the planets and ride their gravity into your opponents' faces. To add to the brawl, you've got power-ups that empower your brawler or ammo to the point where it's possible to destroy the planets themselves!
Astro Brawl is just starting, so keep an eye on it as it develops. Once the multiplayer servers hit critical mass, space will have much more fighting to contain.
You can download and play Astro Brawl from its itch.io page right here!
