Off the AppStore: A lovely sense of Communite community
|
  • A friendly and stylised cartoon community
  • Decorate the canvas of the world with natural tiles and cute structures
  • Make your own world for yourself and visitors, or befriend and visit others

Welcome to Off The AppStore, a weekly feature with a twist. Namely, that while these - as with all the games we cover here - are games that you can play on your phone, they're ones that operate outside of the realms of the big two ways to play: The Google Play Store and the Apple AppStore.

That means that there might be a bit of work required in downloading alternative AppStores or APKs, or that the games can simply be played in your phone browser. We'll make sure to detail that for each game though. Anyway, read on to find a new game or experience to play Off The AppStore.

Whether on an island or in the most densely packed city in the world, some of us will always crave some sort of community. It's different for everyone, from a large family to a group of friends to people you see every day while living your life. Unfortunately, not all of us are gifted with social batteries to rival the sun's energy, so we seek it out elsewhere. The online world has stepped up to provide a digital community that can have just as much value (and sometimes more) as a real one, and that's where Communite comes in. The creators at Jimjum Studios made this title by coming together as a… group of people working on the same thing.

In Communite, you play a little peg of a person exploring a colourful cartoon world with no stress except whatever you take into it. Of course, it's designed to be a stress-free place that hopefully will drain some of your present stress. You can join the global Communite, run in smaller circles, or make your own peaceful plot.

The mechanics and gameplay are designed to make it feel like you're this little community's interior and exterior decorator. You can spend time gathering what you need to lay down plots of land, plants, rocks, waters, and whatever other nature you can find. Once you feel comfortable with the natural world, you can move on to structures to add a structural edge to everything and make a nice space for yourself and any possible hosting.

Speaking of hosting, Communite is an open world (in more ways than one) where you're encouraged to visit other people's lands, make friends, and invite them to your own. The more you participate, the more you create and decorate, and the more kindness you'll bring to the community. This kindness can unlock more features so that you can continue adding to the tapestry of this sweet little universe. Communite is there to give you a solid ground to transform as you like and share it with whoever you want while you explore at your leisure. It's still in Early Access as it spreads its reach to the official app channels, so look forward to more to a greater community.

Communite is available on its itch.io page right here!
