Welcome to Off The AppStore, a weekly feature with a twist. Namely, that while these - as with all the games we cover here - are games that you can play on your phone, they're ones that operate outside of the realms of the big two ways to play: The Google Play Store and the Apple AppStore.

That means that there might be a bit of work required in downloading alternative AppStores or APKs, or that the games can simply be played in your phone browser. We'll make sure to detail that for each game though. Anyway, read on to find a new game or experience to play Off The AppStore.

Most of us are entirely open about dreading the 9 to 5 schedule and hoping for the day when we can make our own schedules, do something fun, and make good money for it. Who knows how or when each person will get there and what will happen once they do? Until that glorious day, a way to cope with your job is to see if you can make a game out of it. If you're in customer service, this escapism can save customers from your wrath, and that's what cyrax02 might've been thinking about when they created Checkout Champ.

All of us (I think) have been to a grocery store at some point in our lives, and despite how they have changed over the years, one aspect remains the same: The checkout. When you have all your items scanned and they need to be neatly sorted into bags, sometimes there are workers who do just that. You're being challenged to do this at this digital grocery store. You must pull out a bag, grab all the customer's items, and organise them to fit nicely into as many needed bags as possible.

Some customers will only have a few items while others will have a full conveyor belt, making you wonder if there ever was a time when it was empty. You must also provide the bags and do quick math to ensure that you have enough of them to handle the cargo. Customers don't have all day, and neither do you, which is why you must work fast. Your shift only lasts so long, and you'll want to check out as many customers as possible to get that sweet, juicy promotion.

Even though this is based around a regular job, you have a sprinkle of gamification to make things more fun. You can spend your wages on temporary power-ups to help with your current shift or invest in upgrades that will make you better for the rest of your shifts. This is a 9 to 5, but it doesn't have to be one that solely crushes your soul minute by minute. Become the only Checkout Champ that will go down in history as one of the most outstanding grocery store employees who ever lived! At least until the demo expands into a larger store.
