The Wrapp - Coffee of varying quality, getting away with murder and yet more Pokemon

Hey there, welcome to our latest edition of The Wrapp.

This is a chance for you to see what the various members of the Pocket Gamer team are planning to play over this weekend and will, hopefully, give you an idea of some of the weird and wonderful things we get up to when we’re not keeping you up to speed with the latest news and tips. Heck, you might even find a new game to play.

This weekend is the Unova tour global in Pokemon Go, which means you can find me in my local town centre, from 10 am to 6 pm, both Saturday and Sunday, hunting Pokemon. Saturday is going to be a “catching and finishing quests” day whereas on Sunday I am going to be doing a bunch of raids!

After Claws & Chaos last week, I’m now digging into something equally chaotic - Expelled!, the upcoming choice-based adventure that also features plenty of figurative claws coming out. It’s from the makers of Overboard!, which I absolutely loved, so suffice it to say I’m very much looking forward to clearing my heroine’s name yet again by pinning an unspeakable crime on someone else. Games really do make us better people, don’t they?

So, my quest to offset the rage of games (IMEs) like Jump King did not go as planned. I had found an undisclosed title about working in a tea shop and thought it would be relaxing. Even though it’s still in Early Access, I will say that it felt more like work than a relaxing side hustle where you serve the occasional customer something tasty and just chill. Maybe this will change as its development continues, so we’ll see if they’ll eventually add in the relaxation.

Thanks to Cat though, I have a lead on another relaxation app. It’s called Good Coffee, Great Coffee if I remember correctly, and I like making coffee… maybe this is the answer.

The planets have aligned and the gods are good; The Shorekeeper is set to return to Wuthering Waves soon. Sadly, I spent every Astrite I have been trying to upgrade Roccia and get her weapon. There is only one resolution for this then; grinding!!!! I shall be trying to eke out every last Astrite I can from exploration so I can get three Shorekeepers and their weapon.

It’s me, the ‘Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’ person! I actually got distracted by it, last week, after writing about it, so didn’t even finish my entry. Whoops.

Well, I moved from 143 of the 155 Space Time Smackdown up to 147/155. However, that’s not likely to move much now as the new (smaller, single pack) expansion ‘Triumphant Light’ has just launched. Luckily, for me, much like the Mew-centric Mythical Island, it’s a smaller pack, with only 75 ‘main’ cards to collect, of which I already have 17. When the new month ticks over, this weekend, I’m going to blow all of my saved-up Shop Tickets on the refreshed Pack Hourglasses and immediately toss them all into the new pack.

If it’s not bad enough that I’m incredibly, incredibly deep into TCG Pocket, this has been a week of non-stop Pokemon Go (it’s Unova Tour event, so there’s been a ‘Raid hour’ every weekday) and that’s only going to intensify for the weekend itself, which has events running through most of the daylight hours across both days.

Maybe ‘Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket person’ should just be Pokemon Person, eh?

Outside of this (hahaha), I’ve redownloaded Gameloft’s The Oregon Trail, which I randomly remembered existed and had fond memories of, and so I’m hoping to sink some serious time into that. Beyond that, maybe I’ll sleep a little?

I shall spend a little more time in the world of Dredge this weekend. I've already raved about it in my review, so please check that out. Though I've already seen the credits roll, I'm not ready to move on from my cute little fishing boat just yet. It's just a pleasant place to be. Until the denizens of the deep take umbrage with me, that is. Alongside that, I'm excited to try Retro Slam Tennis. Retro Bowl is one of my favourite mobile games, so anything New Star releases is always worth a go.

Outside mobile, I'm into the post-game section of God of War Ragnarok. The story was a good time in the end, though I maintain it lost a lot of what made the first special, partly because the characters repeatedly debate the same topics without giving an inch until suddenly giving a mile. Also, for anyone interested (nobody is, Stephen), I did my 10K race in 49:45, if you want the official time. However, my Garmin said I hit the distance in 48:58. Of course, I know which I'd rather take and which counts in most people's eyes. Still, it's a PB either way.
